Local Area Agreement (LAA)
What is a Local Area Agreement? It is a three-year agreement that is made between central government and the local area. It outlines what the challenges are for the County and what we are going to do to make life better for those who live and work here.
What does it consist of?
The Local Area Agreement (LAA) consists of three parts. The Story of Place places the LAA in context and outlines various aspects of life here, what we perform well at and what we need to improve. From this comes the Priorities which reflect areas where we think we need to improve. Finally there are Indicators and Targets which will help us measure how well we are performing against the priorities.
How is the activity funded?
The LAA is funded through a variety of means, using core funding from partners and through other funding such as the Area Based Grant. As an incentive for reaching the targets the government has committed to the payment of a Reward Grant at the end of the three-year period.
Why is the LAA important?
It is important because it identifies what the priorities are for our County and how we are going to address them. It is about partnership working, with statutory organisations, the private sector and the voluntary and community sector working together to make life better for those who live in Herefordshire.
